Kenneth on Suspicions He Was a Spy, Not a Missionary
When World War II broke out, Kenneth had photographs of both sides of the peninsula all the way up to Burma, and also on the islands in the Gulf of Siam [and the Andaman Sea on the west side]. He had maps. And he had a ten-year file of Siamese language newspapers, the only person in the U.S. who did. So some Siamese officials concluded that Kenneth had never truly been a missionary at all. He had been a spy. Many in the US State Department thought that Kenneth was an intelligence officer and a spy.

Kenneth Unexpectedly Met a Former Friend From Siam
The Landons had returned to Chicago and Kenneth was out one night, speaking at a church. He was on his way back when he ran onto a middle-aged lady and began talking with her. The two were well into the conversation when they suddenly realized that they actually knew each other from Siam: they were both missionaries there, had dinner together once, walked together, and got to know each other over a period of years. It was a ridiculous experience.
