<dcterms:title><![CDATA[Kenneth on When the British Consul Byrd Ignorantly Dismissed Landon]]></dcterms:title>
<dcterms:description><![CDATA[The negotiations went on week after week. Finally, Mr. Byrd decided to dispose of Kenneth, saying that he was assuming a knowledge of the country of Thailand that he really didn't possess. He expressed admiration for Kenneth's father as a scholar and the books he had written, but advised Kenneth not to claim to know what his father knew. Byrd didn't know Kenneth had written the books, and when Kenneth revealed that he was the "father" in question, it just took the gas out of him. That was virtually the end of British opposition while Kenneth was there. ]]></dcterms:description>
