Title
Kenneth and Margaret on Government Inquiries to Get Kenneth to Teach
Description
Kenneth tells of the background to his appointment at the State Department. There had been a number of inquiries before the call from Washington. Kenneth wasn't interested in most of them. He tells how Mortimer Graves, secretary of the Council of Learned Societies, sponsored him to tour several prominent universities to introduce them to Southeast Asian Studies, to no avail, despite the fact that Kenneth was in possession of the best library collection on the subject in the world at the time.
