Margaret tells of the compound, housework, market, and sewing. The compound had begun to look like what Margaret had hoped for (it looked like a park). Dan Bovee had done a great deal to bring this about. There was a man for cutting the grass all day long and carrying water. Nai Lai was doing repairs in the house. Margaret also had a seamstress coming to catch up on the sewing work. It was a lot of work to have enough clothes available at all time in the hot climate. Market in Trang was every third day, and there was little you could buy there.

Over a course of 13 years Kip Landon (Kenneth Landon Jr.) began recording stories from his parents, Margaret and Kenneth Landon, resulting in 95 hours of recordings. Beginning on July 20, 1976, recording finished in June, 1978. The project resumed again in 1982 for a few months. After a long break, the third recording period began in 1988 and concluded in March 1989.
