Family Man and Friend

Although he was frequently called away from home, Jonathan Blanchard loved his family. His concern for his children was clear as he at turns threatened and cajoled them to his will. He trusted his wife with all his affairs when he was away, and was always solicitous of her needs. He also maintained many lifelong friendships through correspondence.
