School was a large part of Jonathan Blanchard’s life. He enrolled at the local school at age 4 and continued there until age 14. After teaching for a year, Jonathan went to nearby Chester Academy, then on to Middlebury college. He started seminary at Andover Theological Seminary in 1833, but left halfway through to pursue reform work. He finished his seminary studies at Lane Seminary in 1838.
