Time Away

Jonathan’s longest trips away from home were to regain his health. He traveled frequently to speak and to raise money. Even when traveling for health reasons he often accepted invitations to speak or preach.

In 1863 he took a prolonged trip to the area around Northampton, Massachusetts. Mary wrote to him at the end of October, gently chiding him for staying away from home so long.
