Jonathan frequently tried cures for his ailments. His health was precarious throughout his life, and he was always willing to try a new remedy for his ailments. On a visit to Northampton, Massachusetts, he tried Dr. Ruggles’ famed “cold water cure.” Jonathan was convinced it was effective, yet it failed to restore his health.
