Preacher and Evangelist

Jonathan Blanchard’s faith was an important part of his life. He finished his ministerial education at Lane Seminary in Ohio. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister by Lyman Beecher, father of Harriet Beecher Stowe. As a preacher and evangelist, Jonathan was very forceful and passionate. He had very definite ideas of right and wrong. His personality and the force of his convictions made him an effective revivalist. But his refusal to pull punches caused him trouble in his professional life.
