Missionary Work

Jonathan could never completely leave his work behind. While out west, he noted to his dissatisfaction that the West seemed full of vice. Before leaving Salt Lake City, Jonathan had convinced Rev. Norman McLeod of Denver to establish a church in Salt Lake City.
As part of his concern for society in the West, Jonathan sent reports to the Home Missionary Society. The Society had contributed $200 toward Jonathan's journey. He repaid them by advertising ample missionary opportunities in the western territories.
